Cancer affects everyone. The devastating toll that a cancer diagnosis places upon the victim, their family, and their friends can be immeasurable. With so many of us dealing with this life threatening affliction, whether directly or peripherally, it can become overwhelmingly complicated to feel like we are doing something to help.
Kiteboarding and SUP 4 Cancer was born from this very situation. The organizer, after dealing directly with a cancer death in her own family, created an outlet; an opportunity to provide awareness, funding and survivorship camps for those that had successfully overcome the disease.
KB4C is a colorful, action packed weekend event where survivors and supporters band together in a funded relay benefitting research and survivorship programs. In 2009, I contributed by illustrating the attached Hula-Hoop Kickoff Party poster. (I would’ve kiteboarded too but I’m a hack!)
KB4C is going strong today and has evolved into “Athletes For Cancer”. To learn more, participate and help fund, check them out at: athletes4cancer.org
